2012 Summary of Computer Clubhouse Youth Outcomes

In 2012, SRI International conducted a survey of over 200 Computer Clubhouse alumni worldwide. Findings revealed that the Clubhouse provides young people with an innovative environment that empowers them as learners and gives them opportunities to contribute to a broader community.

Youth Impact Surveys

Periodic research conducted by SRI International that measures Clubhouse Members’ visiting patterns and attitudes. Attitude measures include self-perception of technological competence, social-emotional relations, and educational aspirations.

A Place to Be Your Best: Youth Outcomes in the Computer Clubhouse

An analysis compiled in 2008 by SRI International combining quantitative and qualitative findings to connect Clubhouse Member activities, relationships, and experiences to specific outcomes. Three broad types of outcomes are identified:
  1. The Computer Clubhouse helps youth build 21st Century skills.
  2. The Computer Clubhouse helps youth find pathways to success.
  3. The Computer Clubhouse builds commitment to community involvement.

Assessing Youth Impact of the Computer Clubhouse Network:

February 2005-May 2007 Capstone Report

By combining results of six Youth Impact Surveys that measure Clubhouse Members' visiting patterns and attitudes, SRI International presents findings and analysis that show a variety of positive associations between youth impact measures and Clubhouse use and activities.

Assessment and Planning Reports

A semi-annual self-reporting and planning tool that captures how Clubhouses effectively apply elements of the Clubhouse learning model in their day-to-day work. Specific measurements include the extent to which Members are encouraged to engage in open-ended exploration, follow their own interests, and use a variety of tools and media. Other topics explored include opportunities for youth leadership, the use of mentors as role models, sustainability planning, and technology support.
