C2C
C2C, more commonly known as Clubhouse to College/Clubhouse
to Career, is an important program component of the Computer Clubhouse
Network, and the Girls' Day Program. C2C activities include workshops,
guest lectures, and off-site field trips to local businesses, colleges
and universities. Women in business, science, technology, and the arts
collaborate with girls to present information about career options,
and discuss their paths in choosing to work in these fields.
C2C provides opportunities for girls to explore academic
and career goal planning, learn necessary workplace skills, and gain
an understanding of the connection between learning and "real life"
work experiences. C2C workshop topics and events may include: resume
writing, the college application process, financial aid planning, interview
presentation skills, job "shadow" opportunities, career fairs, and presentations
by guest speakers who share information about internships or other employment
and scholarship opportunities offered by their companies.
Get Involved
There are several ways to become involved with Girls'
Day C2C:
- Host a tour of your organization, sharing information
with girls about diverse career opportunities
at your company.
- Create internships to encourage girls' exploration
of their career interests.
- Provide information about
scholarships that may be available through your company.
- Conduct job readiness workshops (resume writing,
interview presentation skills).
- Host "job shadow" days at your company, when girls
can volunteer to observe, and complete hands-on task assignments while
learning about diverse career options.
- Share insights on the college application process,
e.g. identifying schools that meet girls' needs, writing application
essays, financial aid planning, and the campus life experience.
- Volunteer to mentor girls. Adult mentors model
positive character and leadership traits, along with sharing their
enthusiasm for technology.
