We need your support!

In February of 1999, staff from the Fairfax Community and Recreation Services developed a program design to introduce youth into technology. The purpose was to level the playing surface between children that have computers in their homes with access to the Internet and those that did not. The goal was to alleviate economic barriers to technology and provide community youth within a clubhouse setting an opportunity to use technology to change their futures. During the program design we became aware that Fairfax County Public Library was pursuing a similar goal. We decided to work together. In April, the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) approached Community and Recreation Services with a mechanism to make their dreams of a technology community a reality. The result of these collaborations will be the establishment of a community-based youth oriented technology clubhouse.
