various maps
to compare (topographical, road, etc.)
Getting
started
First, pick
a spot to bury your treasure, or pick a spot to mark as the endpoint you want
your friends to reach.
Work backwards
from that spot to your starting point, writing directions and/or drawing a
map for friends to follow. Think about the two kinds of information you need
to give in your instructions: direction and distance.
What can you
use to give direction if your friends won't have a compass? What can you use
for orientation even on a cloudy day?
For distance,
be sure you use something that anyone who picks up the map can understand.
Is your foot the same size as everyone else's?
What next
Creation
and invention:
Create a map
in code. Have your friends first figure out the code and then use the map
to find treasure.
