Group projects benefit from a large table with supplies close to the building table. Bins of supplies can be brought directly to the table. Younger children often enjoy working on the floor. Motion projects can be tested on the floor where they will not fall off table edges.
Storage for Materials
Plastic storage bins are very helpful for storing art supplies. Wall units can hold the sorted LEGO (or other) pieces.
Storage for Projects
Plastic bins labelled with the builder's name, start date of project, and brief inventory of contents help organize and protect projects. This prevents "borrowing" of specialized pieces from other people's projects. A photograph of the builder and project increase the inspiration for other people. Our labels also have a grid of the 12 months. Each month the project is active is marked. When the project has not been used for more than 1 month, the project is dismantled and the pieces recycled into the supply bins.
Display
It is motivating for other builders to see projects created in the past. Usually limited resources require dismantling and recycling of projects after a reasonable period of display. Photo documentation, writeups and posters about the project promote a sense of accomplishment and completion.
